Project Purpose

The project included three phases, roughly corresponding to the three-year timeframe:

Year 1 (April 2004 – March 2005): Research and Consultation

Year 2 (April 2005 – March 2006): Resource Development and Distribution

Year 3-4 (April 2006 – December 2007): Training and Implementation and Evaluation

Based on empirical evidence from the research and consultation conducted, comprehensive, integrated information and tools was produced to support functions including: policy development and governance, program administration; activity leadership, modeling, instruction; and parent/guardian support.

Following development and distribution of the completed resources, time was devoted to supporting implementation with the many partner groups involved; i.e., training Peer Coaches, service providers and others to promote awareness, effective application of the material, and long-term commitment to risk management.
