Project Rationale While community-based groups and municipalities conduct hundreds of thousands of hours of youth recreation programming in Alberta annually, and millions of hours nationally, they have no consistent means of dealing with risk management. Groups are using their highly limited resources (staff, funds, time) to try to re-create the wheel, and, generally, they are failing to adequately support their members and families with current, high quality, Canadian-based risk management guidelines and resources. Community groups, municipalities and service providers needed better access to appropriate safety and security related information and tools, and training opportunities that respond to specific organizational and community needs, including the active living and safety education of Canadian youth. |
